Grants are given in various levels of government. There is the federal, state and then those being offered by non profit organizations.

The application process in any of these is the same. The difference will be in the requirements so the person has to get a brochure or do the necessary research online to pre-qualify.

The amount that a person can get from a US federal grant is not fixed. This means that Mr. X can get more than Mr. Y depending on the merits of the proposal. When this is awarded to the recipient, every penny spent must be recorded because the government would like to see where the money went.

People should remember that the money used to fund the project came from the taxpayers. It is only right to follow the terms of the agreement rather than paying hefty fines or penalties and in some cases be sent to prison.

It helps a non profit organization work on a project that ameliorates a problem they’ve been assigned money to fix, it helps you, by giving your company contracts for work to be done, and it helps the community by allowing you to hire more people to get the job done. The local restrictions on this sort of partnership are varied and numerous, and it’s worth it to talk to someone at the local city hall to see what can and cannot be done without conflict of interest or collusion complications.

The last place to dig for grants (or the first one in some situations) is a local trade organization. To the surprise of many, the government tries to modify our behavior through monetary strategies and the same is true for promoting green construction. In this case, we are talking about funding a green project.

There are numerous sources for the funding of green project research and construction. They exist on the National, State, and local level. They include grants, tax credits, and loans. The important thing to understand when you begin a search for a source of funding is that the government and society in general is very anxious to assist you with your green project. We are not just waking to the global dangers. Our leaders are already wide awake and know that green construction is an essential element of the future health of our nation. They want to help, particularly on the state level.

The central clearing house for Federal Programs is the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA). This website based catalog gives information of all federal programs that supply funds to state agencies, local agencies, and non-profit organizations. They also list programs that are available to private developers and even individuals. This catalog can be accessed online and application made online as well.
