In my discussions over the years with clients, one question seems to pop up more than any other: Are Americans willing to pay more for environmentally-friendly products?

For the segment of the population that is most affluent, most educated and most eco-conscious, the answer has always been – yes.

Now, a survey conducted by GfK Roper Public Affairs & Media and the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, shows that an ever increasing number of Americans are willing to pay more for environmentally friendly products.

“Many American consumers, even in the face of economic uncertainty, express a willingness to pay more for environmentally friendly products,” said Anthony Leiserowitz, director of Yale Project on Climate Change.

Half of the respondents to the survey said they would “definitely” or “probably” pay 15% more for eco-friendly clothes detergent (51%) or for an automobile (50%). Forty percent said they would spend 15% more on “green” computer printer paper and 39 percent would do the same for “green” wood furniture.

What has been most surprising in this study is the fact that Americans who said their current financial situation is “fair” or “poor” were just as willing to spend 15% more on such environmentally-friendly products as detergent or wood furniture as those Americans more confident of their current financial situation.

As the green movement continues to grow, this survey should make it clear to industries across the board that green products will continue to increase in demand. Whether you are a manufacturer, small family business or service provider, it is important to increase the development or repackaging of your products as environmentally friendly.

As green becomes the norm, and probably the cost of entry for most products within the next 3 to 5 years, those firms that get a jump start on their competitors will have the best chance of capitalizing on this premium price differentiation. After that time frame, the green premium will most likely disappear and companies will have to look for the next marketing edge.

In the meantime, go green. It makes economic sense.

It has been proven the “Green” movement is good for our planet and us. There is a product that is gaining immense popularity with this movement. In fact, it is spawning cottage industries, and other opportunities for the ever-increasing crowd looking to start a home business.

With the economy testing our patience and our pocketbooks at every turn, more and more people and families are looking to find ways they can make a few extra dollars. An ever-increasing amount of enterprising individuals and families are starting their own natural soy candle business, right from their homes. You can get started fairly quickly, and you have a couple of choices in how to get your business up and running within a few days.

First, you can go the ultra quick start route by becoming a natural soy candle wholesaler. With this method, you’ll sign up to purchase candles at wholesale prices, and then resell them to make a profit.

The company you choose to be your wholesale supplier should be one that’s been in business for a while and has an excellent customer service department. You’ll want to contact their customer service department prior to signing up to see how long they take to respond to you. If they take more than 24 hours, you may want to cross them off of your list as possible suppliers.

These wholesaling companies can run from network marketing companies, to large wholesalers, drop-shippers or you can become and affiliate. All of these choices have their own positives and negatives. Depending on your own personal and business goals, which should point you in the correct direction to take.

If you want to be on your own, find a good wholesale company, make sure it is one that has a quality natural soy candle that you love and would like to sell directly customers. Check the minimum order you would need to purchase to start out with. And also the amount you would need to order on subsequent orders. You will need a Tax ID as wholesaler’s will ask for this right up front, to make sure you’re an actual business.

If your business goals are to build a team of direct sellers, then definitely network marketing is the way to go. Not too much to watch out for here, just don’t get talked into buying a ton of inventory to start your business. This is not only illegal; you don’t need the stress of trying to move a large inventory. When starting any business, spend money on marketing, not inventory. People will wait a few days for their product. And a real plus with these network-marketing companies, you can usually start with your Social Security number and not a Tax ID.

Drop-Shipping companies may take a little extra legwork. You want to check these companies out very well. You are trusting them with your customer’s information, so trust will be a big part of this decision. You also want to make sure, the product your selling is what they are shipping. When you are selling a healthy “green” product like natural soy candles. You need to make sure that’s what they are getting.

Affiliate programs abound on the web, again find an all natural soy candle you like and then look for an affiliate link on that website. Most natural soy candle companies on the web will have an affiliate program. You just need to sign up for their affiliate program and you get a link and you just send traffic to their site and you get a percentage of the sale if they buy. Of course you need a website of your own to do this. So this is not the route for the new person.

I want to stress again, you’ll need to find a wholesale company that has a minimum order amount that you can afford when starting out in your new home business. If you can’t afford the initial minimum order, then you certainly don’t want to use the company.

You may need to order just a few candles to restock a certain scented product, and you don’t want to have to pay $300 just to get six candles!

Another thing to compare is the start up costs involved with each company. Some companies will let you become a wholesaler with very little start up fees, where other companies will charge $35 and higher just to sign up. If you can find a company you like that let’s you join just with an initial order, you may want to give them a try.

Natural soy candles are a big business, and growing by leaps and bounds every year. Some companies are experiencing 30% growth and more per year. Now that’s the kind of business you can get excited about.

It’s an easy business to get started in. You can join one of the wholesaler sites online and be in business in just a few short days, or even hours. Do you know anybody who doesn’t burn and love candles? Any way you choose to go, it is both a fun and profitable home business.

My name is Darwin Schoenwald webmaster and owner of The Scented Soy Candles Info Center at http://www.scented-soy-candles-info.com to find out more about soy candles or you can go directly to my wholesale site at http://www.nmcandles.com and get started today.
There are a lot of network marketing opportunities with today’s diverse niche products, services, marketing medium, technology and even scientific discoveries.

Health products are the pioneer network marketing opportunity. Marketing supplemental foods of Forever Living is one. Low calorie beers and fortified foods also offer similar opportunity, but they already are in public groceries. They do not require network marketing anymore.

Two network marketing opportunities are vegetables and environment products.

Not that there is a growing market of vegetarians, but vegetables are just the best health food. They really need to be in all household tables because they have the complete nutrients. Fruits even just come in second and nutrient-fortified processed foods are not complete healthy foods.

Do not market mere vegetables but fresh organic vegetables. Thus, companies should foremost organize production of fresh organic vegetables. Companies should grow vegetables without the harmful pesticides and inorganic fertilizers. Moreover, they should have quality storage and fast delivery facilities to keep vegetables fresh in the market. Companies could also contract quality-controlled production to many local vegetable growers. The group of vegetable growers can instantly be the companies’ additional network of distributors.

Companies should campaign along vegetarians. They can rally for vegetarian lifestyles. They can join social networks of vegetarian, which widely thrive now in the internet.

Environment or green products are the next network marketing opportunity. Not that the market is large, but the need to cut our carbon prints and avert global warming are high. Companies should produce now environment-friendly products. Much like in vegetable growing, companies should now do away with pesticides and inorganic fertilizers because they pollute the air and water resources. They even decrease soil fertility that later will limit food production.

I-Am-Not-A-Plastic-Bag bags are one of the famous green products. They eventually replaced non-biodegradable plastic grocery bags. It went out massively just through the internet and online social networks. Now, it reaches even Asia. The growing groups of environmentalists facilitated its quick spread.

Public markets and groceries are widely present everywhere, but an exclusive vegetable and green store is yet not too visible. It might be good to have one.

Here’s to your success.

In this new world of eco-consciousness, concern of global warming, home business and entrepreneurship, a gourmet treasury of backyard mini-farm opportunities are being born. They range from substantial extra streams of income to full-time income, and from rooftops, even apartments (!) to farms on small acreage. Out of the ashes of the farming disaster in the 1980s came a new form of organic small acreage or backyard farm, the “micro eco-farm.” The Center for the Micro Eco-Farming Movement, there are reports of angora rabbits being raised in apartments, organic herb gardens in backyards selling herbal crafts over the internet, miniature sheep, miniature dairy cows, organic flower farms on small acreage, heirloom vegetable farms on small acreage, garlic farms on small acreage, flower seed farms from backyards, and the list goes on.

Often, they are matched with a home cottage industry, such as spinning wool products from the angora rabbits’ wool or teaching cooking classes on the heirloom vegetable farm.

While most of these home businesses are farms from backyards to small acreages, some of these very small farms are within bigger farms. One operates a full time business from two acres, but lives on a 130 acre farm. Another’s husband farms huge acreage owned by a corporate farm, but their own seven acres hosts her full time business of growing beautiful herb and flower gardens, growing unusual bedding plants and making gifts from her garden crops for sale in her on-farm gift shop, and hosting weddings and other special events on the farm.

Here’s how it works.

In the 80s, as just one example, hundreds of smaller dairy farmers had to go out of business. Cows were injected with hormones to produce massive amounts of milk, and wholesale prices got so cheap, smaller dairy farms just couldn’t earn enough from sales anymore. It was get big or get out. Each cow cost more to keep than what was returned. Plus, many of those who used to see milk as nature’s most wholesome food began to question its health, and sales dropped even further.

So, how would a micro eco-dairy farm today make money with five cows on a little more than five acres? They raise the cows organically or certified naturally grown on green pasture (the health benefits of this to humans are well-documented, and astounding). With that milk, they handcraft artisan cheese, and sell this premium product often retail to upscale markets for eager buyers seeking healthy, humanely raised, grass-fed artisan cheese… cheese in which customers can even name the cows it came from! The cost to keep each cow is returned many times over. Times have changed. Today, hand-tending, handcrafting and allowing customers to reconnect with animals and nature don’t work for large-scale agribusinesses, but they work for smaller parcels and have an eager market waiting.

For more information about these family-friendly home businesses that help rejuvenate the earth and our connection to it, visit the Center for the Micro Eco-Farming Movement at Micro Eco-Farming

While transporter rooms have yet to become a part of our daily mode of transportation, there is one item from “Star Trek” tech that has become a popular consumer electronics staple. The portable “hand held communicator” that was used by the crew of the Starship Enterprise, has made its way to our planet in the form of a cell phone. Weaving the technology into the fabric of our society took some time. The first handheld cell phone commercially available to the US market was the Motorola DynaTAC, way back in 1983. The cost to own a DynaTAC was around four thousand dollars. The calling plan was a whopping one dollar per minute. This made the cell phone cost prohibitive to most of the general public. Only those with financial means could afford to own it. It took more than a decade, but like most things in the technological arena, phone prices finally dropped and the cell phone emerged. It was smaller and more portable then it’s first cousin the DynaTAC.

Cell towers started to sprang up all over the country, and calling plan prices when from dollars to cents per minute. Communication for the masses was finally born. Today, it is hard to find anyone who is not chatting on their cell phone, or has a wireless blue-tooth headpiece attached to their ear like a “Borg” appendage. Along with this explosion of communication technology came new products and support services like cell phone covers, calling cards, ring-tones, ear pieces, camera phones, text messaging and Internet access. Just about any function you can perform on your home computer can now be done on a cell phone that weighs less than a pound. While both cell phones and accessories are entering the consumer market at a rapid pace, new models will replace old, and today’s hot new accessories will end up in tomorrow’s landfill. Cell phones and accessory devices, including headsets and batteries, provide new opportunities for a variety of green business models to emerge.

It is estimated that there are over 20 million used cell phones in households across America. While some cell phone service providers and manufacturers are championing recycling efforts, a savvy
Entrepreneur might be able to find a niche in the cell phone recycling business. The main key to success in the cell phone recycling business revolves around acquisition. Some people throw their cell phones in the trash. Most, are just forgotten, winding up in cabinets, closets, and designated junk draws of households throughout America. The general public, for the most part, is still unaware that their old cell phones can be recycled. In some areas of the country, used cell phone recycling efforts are not as prevalent or as well known as cardboard and aluminum can reclamation. Performing your due diligence and setting up cell phone collection stations within heavily trafficked locations within your state or local community is one way to make the general public aware of your recycling efforts. There are several trade groups can provide you with market research, as well as support material to help you set up collection stations.

One such organization is The International Association For Wireless Communication, (Ctia.org). Ctia.org provides position papers and articles pertaining to how used cell phones are collected for recycling. Use the search feature on their homepage and type in the keyword phrase “recycle”. RecyclewirelessPhones.org is another organization dedicated to helping individuals and businesses start a cell phone recycling business. After you have done your research and set up a number of used cell phone drop off stations, the next step is to find a profitable sales outlet for your merchandise. The good news is that you don’t have to set up a website or sell your phones on Ebay to make money (unless of course you want to). With the proliferation of wireless communication in everyday life and new models replacing old ones, some recycling companies are now specializing in buying new and used cell phones. GRC Recycling (Grcrecycling.com) is just one company that pays for new and used cell phones. GRC will pay anywhere from fifty cents to thirty dollars depending on the make, model, and condition of the cell phone you have to offer.

Recellular (Recellular.com), and Ecophones (Ecophones.com), are two additional companies that are similar to GRC Recycling. Ecophones.com will also pay for used laptops, camcorders, and other electronics items. In addition to buying your used electronic merchandise, both Ecophones and GRC Recycling offer advice and counsel for profit and non-profit businesses who want to set up used cell phone collection stations. Free sources of education about the used cell phone industry can be found at Cell For Cash (CellForCash.com). They offer a free downloadable eBook for all consumers and businesses interested in collecting and selling used cell phones as a full or part-time business. If you are thinking about getting involved with a business that has the potential for profits while keeping the landfills cleaner, and the planet greener, then the used cell phone recycling is the business opportunity for you.

Did you know that the average person spends at least a month or more searching the Internet for products that they can buy, and then resell? Most, give up trying to find wholesale suppliers after only a few days. Are you frustrated by the search for products to sell? The Ultimate Guide To Products For Resale has over 600 wholesale and surplus supply sources in 12 different popular product categories.

Each day we hear how much we contribute to green house gases and global warming. The daily commute to work, with the carbon dioxide emissions from our automobiles, is just one of the contributing factors.

The consumption of energy involved in running a traditional brick and mortar business can be drastically reduced by starting a home based business.

Here are a few green benefits by working from home.

Measuring Your Carbon Footprint

Energy costs are reduced by 30% with a home based business according to the experts. Install energy efficient LED light bulbs. Use as many recycled products for your home office as possible.

The most attractive home business is where most, if not all of your work is done online. If you were to start an online business such as online marketing, you can go green by reducing the consumption of paper.

Online marketing allows you to operate the business through the use of a website. This eliminates the cost of paper for invoices, newsletters, and marketing messages. All your communications are now through email, and a marketing tool called an auto responder. An auto responder permits you to deliver frequent and timely messages to your customers or prospects.

Cost Reductions By Going Green

Have you ever considered the cost of clothing when you work outside the home? A home business will allow you to work in your pajamas if you so choose.

Since you no longer have that daily commute, and you are going green, think of the cash savings on gasoline. Not only can you leave your car parked most of the time, but if you do travel, consider it a business deduction.

By working at home, your meal cost is reduced. You may decide to go out for lunch, but many find it easier, and cheaper, to eat at home.

Going Green And Earning Green

Convinced that working at home helps save the planet, how will you decide which business best suites your needs? By now you understand some of the benefits of an online marketing business. Marketing online can reach millions with your product or service.

You can expect a learning curve with online marketing, but as you begin to utilize the various techniques and methods of marketing, your financial returns can be very rewarding.

Most home businesses require an up front investment. The key in selecting the right business depends on your research. Choose a business you will enjoy, and treat it as a business, not a hobby.

Look for a company offering a good training program for their products. Training is vital in learning how to market online. Along with training from the company, seek the help of a mentor, or coach. It is no fun to try something new on your own. Have someone with experience in the aspect of marketing show you the ropes.

In conclusion, our concern for the environment continues to grow. Do your part in helping to save energy. Starting a home-based business with the idea of going green will make a lasting contribution to our society.

IBM recently announced “Project Big Green,” a $1 billion initiative to reduce energy consumption by offering new lines of energy-efficient IT products.

Wal-Mart is adding solar power to more than 20 stores.

PepsiCo is buying renewable energy certificates to offset its carbon footprint. Even major banks and energy firms are being asked by shareholders to prove that they, too, are going green.

It’s not just the biggest businesses that are attracting new customers and shareholders and reaping huge profits by “going green.” Small businesses also are growing eco-profits by embracing surprisingly inexpensive strategies to add value to their products, services and brand.

Consider these innovative examples:

- Bob Smith of Mad River Brewing Company in Blue Lake, California, has attracted positive publicity (and new customers) by promoting his efforts to reduce his small firm’s waste output and take other environmentally conscious steps. In turn, he has received welcome positive publicity from the press. “What PR budget? That is our PR budget,” he told the Albuquerque Tribune about “going green” to market his business.

- In Florida, Natalie Kelly formed Home Therapy Cleaning Services, which uses only nontoxic, all-natural cleaning products for her home cleaning business. She used to sell aromatherapy candles from her home, she told the St. Petersburg Times, but today uses an aromatherapy baking soda blend to freshen carpets.

Here’s what you can do:

- Two inexpensive ways any small business or solo entrepreneur can go green are to change light bulbs to energy-efficient bulbs and use biodegradable cleaning products.

- With that done, tell your customers and the media about these simple ways to go green. You will have just earned instant credibility as a green business, and also as a media resource for simple, effective ways to “go green.”

- Many communities online and offline are forming networks to exchange energy-saving ideas for home and business. Form your own energy network, enlisting neighborhood businesses that will welcome another opportunity to show they’re going green, too. The plus for you is that you will have just positioned yourself and your business as a community environmental leader.

- Copy what the New York Times called “Phase 2″ of the corporate response to global warming. Partner with an environmental group. Travelocity invites customers to donate an extra $10 to $40, which goes to the Conservation Fund to plant trees to offset the carbon used by a client to take a trip. Whole Foods invites customers to buy a $5 “wind power card” that goes to Renewable Choice Energy to build wind farms. What local environmental group can you partner with to promote on your Web site (and vice versa), to set aside a day that a percentage of profits will go to that organization or to make their fliers available at your business?

- Make use of readily available, free information to hand out with your business literature or to make available in your office. For example, create a one-page flier on your letterhead inviting clients to calculate their own carbon footprint by visiting http://multimedia.wri.org/safeclimate_calculator.cfm

- Go deeper green! Attend a “green” conference in your community or region, and promote your attendance. (Go to Google.com and type in “green” and “conference” and your area to find out when and where they are scheduled.) Write a “green” article on simple ways you are going green and submit it to one of the dozens of “green” Web sites and blogs that invite reader contributions. It’s a great way to market your smart ideas and your business!

You probably realize that more people than ever are concerned with the impact they have on the environment. They are looking for ways to decrease the waste they create and live their lives in a greener way. That’s why one the best small niche business ideas focus on incorporating greener living into our daily lives.

One example of this is a woman I know who has run a catering company for years. A few years ago a large chain store moved into her neighborhood. They offered cheap catering services that she was unable to compete with. She knew she had to make a change or she’d go out of business. It just happened that around this time she was looking into ways to make her business more green, so she decided to use that as a selling point.

She started by going completely organic. All of the food that was catered came from certified organic stores. She also focused on getting rid of all disposable plates and napkins. She had to make an initial investment into more glass plates and silverware, but she no longer had to buy paper or plastic utensils every month so in the long run she saved money.

By focusing on going green, not only was she able to increase her business, she was able to charge more. People really responded to her unique niche and she’s been incredibly successful ever since. The key to succeeding in this type of venture is to simply offer something that no one else can.

If you need money now, like I mean in the next hour, try what I did. I am making more money now than in my old business and you can too, read the amazing, true story, in the link below. When I joined I was skeptical for just ten seconds before I realized what this was. I was smiling from ear to ear and you will too.

The green economy is developing whole new sections of business. One section that is just beginning to get some attention is the skin and cosmetics industry. There is lots of information available about skin care, however not enough about the importance of safety, health and how to find and purchase clean, green and healthy products. The certified organic skin care business is just beginning and will be growing along with the organic market which is expanding at an astounding rate every year.

‘Organic’ and ‘Natural’ have been used to describe skin care products and those words feel safe. As the natural skin care business grows there is also the need to become more educated so you can interpret terms that could be misleading.

People have many reasons for searching out more organic and natural products. They could be using products that are safe and non-toxic, caring for the planet, a specific health problem or not using any animal products. If your are among the people making this choice you are to be applauded for treating your body and the planet with the best products you can find.

As safe as the words ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ sound, they can be misleading. Regulations are scarce and the cosmetic and body care industry is a self-regulated industry so they can, basically, make up their own rules.

When you make the choice to fuel your body with certified organic ingredients you are assured that the ingredients have gone through a recognized independent third party organization that has stringent certified organic standards. These standards are adhered to by the formulators, suppliers, manufacturers and transportation. Everyone in this system has an obligation to meet.

Five benefits of using Certified Organic:

1. Good for the Soil – Organic systems rely on a modern and scientific understanding of ecology and soil science, while also depending on traditional methods of crop rotations to ensure fertility, weed and pest control.
2. Good for the Environment – Organic systems aim to reduce dependence on non-renewable resources. Organic production aims at all times towards sustainability and upholds the best management of the environment and wildlife as a priority.
3. Good for People – Organic based ingredients have been shown in a number of studies to contain more vitamins, nutrients and cancer-fighting antioxidants than non-organic ingredients.
4. No Synthetic Chemicals – Organic systems prohibit the use of artificial chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers.
5. No GMOs – Certified Organic products are produced without GMOs (genetically modified organisms), which are prohibited in the standards for organic food and farming. You may purchase something that says organic or natural however without the certified organic status they may use ingredients that are genetically modified.

Certified organic comes with a shorter shelf life and the ingredient names on the label are familiar, you will recognize what they are. Each ingredient will be listed as certified organic. The label of the certifying organization is printed on the label to assure you of the independent third party endorsement.

Your choice to purchase organic foods is bringing health to you, your family and the planet. Now you can expand that to certified organic skin care and cosmetics products. Another step to adding to your green living lifestyle.

So What Is Leverage?

When considering sourcing a the Best Big Ticket Business Opportunity or Product to market, it is really worthwhile to consider the ‘Power of Leverage’ in running our Business. ‘Leverage’ means to do the work once, and to benefit from what you have put in place again and again and again.

Why work day in and day out doing the same thing over and over again, exchanging your time and your life for money, just like having a job.

If you Work Smart and use the Power of Leverage, you could end up having a lot more extra time on your hands to spend doing other things that are important in your life, like spending more time with your family, taking more time for exercise and good health, playing golf, taking a vacation, exploring your other talents and gifts, making a difference in this world.

So How Do We Implement Leverage Into Our Business?

Leverage can come in many ways, shapes and forms. We will explore the 4 most Powerful Methods of Leveraging your Business.

1) Automation

Automation can easily be seen in Online Marketing or Internet Marketing.

Your website captures your clients name and email address for your database Your webpage is your 24/7 sales person doing the selling and telling for you Your webpage can give information and testimonials of how your products and services have helped others or worked for them. Your website has a ‘Buy Button’ to accept credit card information and other forms of payment Your customer is redirected to a page where they can download your products in digital format instantly, not having to wait for postage and delivery Your automated email system communicates with your database 365 days a year if set up correctly

If you use Automation for your online Business, you can experience time freedom, and just focus on your marketing, or getting customers to your website.

To me this is the Ultimate form of Leverage.

2) Replication

Replication can be creating an automated way for reproducing a product. For example if you have a hobby and see the potential to turn it into a business, rather than trying to keep up hand making the ‘items’, source a manufacturer to replicate it for you, saving you much time, that you can use to growing your customer base, or designing new products.

3) Duplication

Duplication in business can be found in Multi Level Marketing Systems, or Network Marketing. Each person joining the business gets trained and supported by their Mentor who has recruited them into the business.

The new recruit needs to follow the proven system that has shown success for their upline, as they have tried and tested various marketing methods, and stick with the most profitable and duplicatable. It the system is followed, the new network marketer should experience similar results, that is why this method is named ‘Duplication’. This recruit when ready, will recruit their own ‘distributors’ and in turn, teach them to duplicate the System.

4) Team Support

Team Support in Business makes a world of difference in lightening the load, you’ve heard the saying, ‘ many hands make light work’.

If your Business is growing and has different areas that can be outsourced, maybe areas that are time consuming, and not particularly your passion or area of strength, think of outsourcing them or employing new Team Members to work with you, to free up some of your time so that you can focus on your area of expertise.

In these times, many people would welcome the opportunity to earn extra income, and become part of your Team Support.

Remember to see where and how you can make use of the Power of Leverage, and to Work Smart and not Hard.
